Peruvian seamstresses with too much time on their hands are hoping for a Guinness World Record after sewing what they believe is the largest pair of blue jeans ever created.
Published reports from Lima say the seamstresses made a pair of pants that measures 141 feet long and 98 feet wide. The huge pants even have red buttons and pockets. Workers tried to lift the pants with three cranes but gave up after unsuccessful attempts and decided to lay the pair flat on the ground instead.
The current world record holder is a pair of pants from Colombia that measured 114 feet high and 82 feet wide. The Peruvian clothing company that sponsored the challenger is sending documentation to the folks at Guinness. Meanwhile, the clothing company plans to turn the huge pair of blue jeans into backpacks for school children.
