15th Annual Artists Studio Tour
November 21, 2009
The 15th Annual Artists Studio Tour, sponsored by the Stones River Craft Association, is in progress today and Sunday. Each location had strong community response and it continues Sunday (11/22/09) from 10:00 in the morning until 5:00 in the afternoon. (below) Several local artists displayed their work in the Maura White’s Stained Glass Store at 310 West Main Street, off the square. And Maura stands beside one of the beautiful stained glass doors that she created.
There are numerous locations. Click here for a map: http://www.stonesrivercraft.org/studiotour/map.html (below L-R) Kitty Munson shows her colorful clay work at the Stain Glass Store. Then Alan Daigre invites you to sit in the comfortable chairs he created at his shop in Readyville (5323 Ferrell Hollow Road).
Daigre’s farm had a restored sharecropper’s cabin that was used to display clay art. (below) Jim Sullivan shows a couple his beautiful salt fired pottery.
Next it was a stop at Joe and Kerry Brown’s forged iron creations, also in Readyville (below). This includes a variety of sculptured items from table height to huge yard pieces.
Bradyville’s Maggie Sunsera displayed her dyed material (below left) at the Brown’s studio on Cripple Creek Road. Then Heloise Shilstadt shows her creations (below right) at the Allen’s Popcorn Gallery on Nelson Lane.
Ray and Susan Allen’s Popcorn Gallery (below) was a treasure chest of functional artistic stoneware.
These were only a few of the art studios that are open to the public. Check them all out Sunday from 10AM to 5PM. And again, for a map to all locations—click this link http://www.stonesrivercraft.org/studiotour/map.html
