Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department’s two engine companies from District 1 and Rescue 8 were dispatched around 9:00 pm Monday to a house fire at 603 North Maney Street.

The call came in as “flames coming through the roof.” En route to the fire, the Shift Commander requested another engine company and rescue.

Upon arrival, crews began an interior attack on the structure, while crews outside proactively set up for rapid intervention team operations (a team who may be called upon quickly and effectively to assist fellow firefighters suddenly threatened by a dangerous situation at an incident).

All five occupants of the home, along with their three dogs were out of the residence and uninjured.

The ceiling on the second floor of the structure made it difficult for crews to access the attic which was where the fire was present. Crews were able to knock it down from the inside, but called a fourth engine company for assistance.

MFRD’s Fire Marshal’s Office has been called in to investigate this incident. The American Red Cross assisted the displaced occupants.
