20th TN Workers' Compensation Education Conference in Murfreesboro

Registration is now open for the 20th Tennessee Workers' Compensation Education Conference. The 2017 event will take place June 13 through 15 at the Embassy Suites Nashville Southeast Hotel in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

This year's conference will feature two nationally recognized keynote speakers, Becky Curtis and Dr. Randy Lowry, as well as numerous other industry experts.

Curtis, Founder and Coach of Take Courage Coaching, was involved a violent work-related motor vehicle accident in the summer of 2005 that left her with debilitating pain. Not wanting to live a life in constant pain or addicted to pain pills, she developed a program, Take Courage Coaching ™, to help people in pain improve.

Curtis will be the opening Keynote Speaker on Tuesday June 13th by sharing her story and techniques to treat pain without the dangers of Opioids.

Dr. Lowry is President of Nashville's Lipscomb University. With its growth in recent years, Lipscomb is consistently ranked as one of the top universities in the Southeast.

In addition to his reputation for education innovation, Lowry is also one of the nation's leading experts in the dispute resolution field. He has been featured in a variety of national media outlets including CNN, Bloomberg Businessweek, Huffington Post and Washington Monthly as a conflict management expert. He has received numerous accolades for his leadership, including being named "Most Admired CEO" by the Nashville Business Journal.

Dr. Lowry will be the opening Keynote Speaker on Wednesday June 14th.

Other featured speakers include Artemis Emslie, CEO of myMatrixx, a leading pharmacy benefit manager and Bill Zachry, recent recipient of a senior fellowship by Sedgwick Institute, a community of thought leaders dedicated to elevating the dialogue around issues concerning the risk and benefits industry.

The conference will include an exhibit hall with various service providers, as well as opportunities to meet senior staff from the Tennessee Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC) and other Tennessee workers' compensation professionals.

A fundraising auction will also be conducted for Kids' Chance of Tennessee, a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization that provides assistance in the form of college scholarships to children whose parents were killed or catastrophically injured in a work-related accident. Application will be made for continuing education credit for attorneys, rehabilitation providers, and human resources professionals and a certificate of completion will be provided for other disciplines.

The conference is sponsored by the Tennessee Bureau of Worhkers' Compensation, in association with the International Workers' Compensation Foundation (IWCF), a non-profit corporation dedicated to workers' compensation research and education. The goal of this conference is to educate those who participate in the Tennessee workers' compensation system, regarding current and pending rules, procedures, policies and forms and to provide an opportunity for dialogue among these participants.
