According to RAINN, The nation's largest anti-sexual assault organization, 80% of sexual assault victims are under the age of 30. A recent police report filed in Murfreesboro detailed a situation that highlights the issue. The report was labeled as a sexual assault and attempted rape.

The 21-year old victim told police she was watching a movie with a male friend when she fell asleep. She awoke to the 23-year old on top of her. She pushed him away and told him to stop, but the report shows the attack continued as the man pulled his pants down. The victim kicked the man until he finally stopped, but he did not leave the room. Instead, he stayed with her as he touched himself.

The report shows that there are no witnesses to the allegations, but the case is in the hands of the local authorities.

RAINN also reports that 68% of sexual assaults go unreported each year in America. The non-profit further stated on their website that 98% of rapist will never spend a day in jail.
