A Wednesday (3/14/2018) afternoon house fire on Valley Bend Road was fully engulfed in flames when the first units from the Rutherford County Fire Department arrived on the scene around 3:30.

Several emergency responders teamed in an effort to save the home, however it is a total loss. Units from Rutherford County, Almaville Volunteer Fire Department, Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services and the Rutherford County Sheriffs Officer were on the scene.

One person was in the home when the fire broke out, but thankfully a family pet alerted them. Both exited to safety.

A firefighter was taken to the hospital after what was described as heat exhaustion.

Valley Bend Road is in the Blackman Community, off Burnt Knob Road.
