Competitors in the 40th Annual All-Women Air Race Classic will be landing at the Murfreesboro Airport this coming Thursday and Friday (June 23-24, 2016).
Airport Manager and Stop Chair Chad Gehrke said that 50 airplanes will execute high-speed flybys over a timing line at Murfreesboro Airport as teams race the clock on a four-day, 2,716-mile course from Prescott, Arizona to Daytona Beach, Florida.
He noted that some of the racers may land before going on to the next stop and a few plan to stay overnight. Teams decide where to remain overnight in the late afternoon or early evening. All teams must be on the ground by approximately 8:25 each evening.
Weather permitting, the racers who spend the night in Murfreesboro will take off from the timing line at 6:30 this coming Friday morning (6/24/2016).
