CORRECTION: 6:45 AM on Thursday; Attempted Carjacking in Murfreesboro

A criminal picked the wrong car to car-jack this morning in Murfreesboro. Apparently, the culprit, who has yet to be arrested, tried to carjack a vehicle being driven by an off duty Murfreesboro Police Dispatcher. WGNS Previously reported the driver of the car was an off duty police officer but has since learned, it was a dispatcher.
The incident was reported in front of the Old Fort Parkway Walmart Store around 6:45, this morning. The suspect is described as a light skinned black male approximately 5-foot 8 or 5-foot 9. He has a scratch on his nose and was seen wearing a yellow colored shirt. The man may have gotten into a yellow Nissan Pathfinder after the attempted theft occurred. The culprit is still on the run.
Murfreesboro Police are investigating and if you see someone matching the above description given, call 911 immediately.
