6th District US Congressman Test-Drives Hydrogen Fuel Cell Auto
August 19, 2008
The hydrogen fuel-cell car U.S. Representative Bart Gordon drove Monday (8/18/08) at the Nissan factory in Smyrna is one of several initiatives the congressman supports to make the U.S. energy independent. The Murfreesboro Democrat said, “I got to see several hydrogen-powered vehicles from the major auto manufacturers. These zero-emission vehicles are not only environmentally friendly, but they can also help us toward our goal of energy independence”. Gordon recently joined a bipartisan coalition of House of Representatives members in supporting a comprehensive energy bill to open up the outer-continental shelf for oil and gas exploration and to repeal federal prohibitions on oil shale development on federal lands. He has supported several short- and long-term initiatives toward U.S. energy independence.
