6th U.S. Congress Candidate Lou Ann Zelenik Signs Pledge Opposing Energy Tax
December 18, 2009
Sixth District U.S. Congressional candidate Lou Ann Zelenik has reportedly signed the pledge to oppose higher energy taxes. Left photo: Zelenik at one of the Tea Parties on the Murfreesboro square.
The Murfreesboro Republican said, “I have been out front in my opposition to energy tax schemes such as Cap and Trade throughout 2009. With our President jetting off to Denmark to bow at the alter of radical environmentalism and Nancy Pelosi determined to burden us with higher energy taxes, now is not the time to trust professional politicians with our nation’s energy policy. Americans who understand the impact of government meddling on farms, small businesses and the family budget must be the ones who stand up with bold statements and defend Tennessee’s working families against the liberal agenda.”
Lou Ann Zelenik threw her hat in the ring to oppose incumbent Bart Gordon, before he announced plans not to seek re-election. Since that time, State Senator Jim Tracy has also decided to seek the seat in the U.S. Congress from which Gordon is retiring after 26-years.
