This past week in Smyrna, an accused child sex offender reportedly took his own life after failing to show up in court for charges of sexual battery of a minor less than 13-years of age. 49-Year old Jason Todd Davis was facing the charges in Wilson County.

Rutherford County Sheriff Deputies, the U.S. Federal Marshall’s Service and the Sheriff of Wilson County say they went to the home of Davis to place him under arrest after the judge issued a bench warrant for the suspect. Authorities say when they entered the Smyrna home of Davis, they heard a single gunshot from a bedroom at the rear of the house. Seconds later, deputies found Davis deceased with a rifle in hand.
