The Adventures in Agriculture event is set for April 12th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lane Agri-Park in Murfreesboro. The Lane Agri-Park is located at 315 John Rice Boulevard, just past Sam’s Club and Tractor Supply.  The theme for this year’s event will be Farmers Carewhich will highlight the ways in which producers maintain and preserve their crops, animals, recreation and the environment.  Farmers will be there to share their knowledge of animals, crops, homegrown foods, handmade products, and more with parents and children.  Admission is FREE and open to the public.

The event, hosted by members and partners of the Rutherford County Agriculture Community, provides many hands-on activities to teach families about the impact agriculture has on our everyday lives. Adventures in Agriculture will have animal exhibits, food displays, gardening information and more.  Children can be a “Farmer for a Day”; an interactive exhibit for children to play at growing crops, harvesting and taking them to market.  Bring your stuffed animals that need repairs; there will be professionals to help.  Adults and children alike will have the opportunity to learn heritage skills, such as butter making, spinning yarn and more.  Parents can talk with Master Gardeners and learn how to grow your own vegetables in your back yard or in a container garden, no matter how much (or how little) room you have.  There will be plenty of games, food and information for all ages.  Don’t miss this family fun day for all ages.
