A vehicle parked at The Southern Apartments on Wenlon Drive in Murfreesboro was broken into. However, what was stolen out of the car was not a radio, change or even a computer that was left unattended. Instead, the motorist reported to police that his AK-47 was stolen.

The car was broken into as it was parked near the C building. The AK-47 rifle was evidently in the trunk of the car when stolen. The victim said the whole car appeared to have been ransacked. Also stolen were two magazines or clips for the gun that hold ammunition.

No broken windows were seen on the car and the victim said that he thought all doors were locked. He did note that a scratch was found on the window that was not there before.

The theft was believed to have occurred on April 22, 2017, but the victim evidently waited until the 23rd to file a report on the theft. Police asked the victim why he waited so long to file the report and he said it was due to his work schedule.

No suspects have been named.
