Alleged Shoplifting Leads to Arrest on Active Warrants

A 22-year old South Church Street man was arrested on shoplifting charges and also picked up on active warrants. Murfreesboro Police Officer Christopher Nolin reports ToriJon Coplin was stopped by a loss prevention officer at the Wal-Mart on Joe B. Jackson Parkway after passing points of sale.

Nolin adds a warrants check revealed violation of probation warrants for driving on a suspended license and possession of a schedule six drug.

On the way to the jail, Nolin reports smelling marijuana. Once at the local lockup, a baggie was found on the back seat of the patrol car. Coplin was also charged with possession of a schedule six drug along with theft under 500-dollars. He'll be in court August 11th to answer to the charges.
