"A decision has been made to get out of the rodeo business," that according to School Resource Officer Sgt. Bill West with the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office.

After 12 years of hosting approximately 65,000 rodeo fans and between 7k to 8,000 Special Needs Students, the Rutherford County School Resource Officers have decided to step back and evaluate past events and what types of events they hold in the future.

The SRO Division will definitely put together something else, but that something else will not be a rodeo. Whatever event is decided upon, it will indeed be geared towards providing entertainment and something positive for families and Special Needs students.

SRO Sgt. Bill West stated in a letter to past sponsors and supporters, "Words are not enough thanks but I don't know anyway else except to say, Thank you, thank you for your support either through your donations or in kind sponsorship's. Your donations helped many clubs at our schools, classroom activities, rewards for students and last but not least, the private show for our Special Needs kids in grades K-12 in both the City and County schools."

Again, the era of rodeos planned annually by Rutherford County School Resource Officers is over and the next chapter has yet to be written.
