Local authorities are investigating an armed robbery and assault at the Westbury Farm Apartments on New Salem Highway. Murfreesboro Police Officer Dalton Watson reports responding an apartment there around 1 o'clock this (Monday) morning.

The victim was then asked for his wallet after being kicked in the back of the head by the suspect. He told the robber the money was in a back bedroom. So the suspect then moved both victims to the bedroom where 780-dollars in cash was located.

The victim then picked up a handgun that was laying on his bed and fired a shot into the floor of the bathroom. He then heard a crashing sound and saw the suspect jump out of the second story window, which he broke out. The victim says he saw the suspect run near a wooded area.

Detectives arrived and took over the investigation and the K-9 unit was deployed to track the suspect. He did get away with some, but not all of the money. About 260 of the 780 dollars was left behind. Also wallets, credit, debit and I-D cards were taken.
