No weapons have been found at Riverdale High School and the school was not on lockdown Friday.

Schools spokesman James Evans said, "Unfortunately, we have some rumors that are being perpetuated. There have been no threats or issues at Riverdale today (other than false rumors). There was a social media threat made yesterday and as we previously reported, that student has been arrested. There have been no other threats against the school and there are no lockdowns."

Rutherford County Sheriff's SRO Capt. Brad Harrison says extra School Resource Officers were posted at the school as a precaution today after a Rutherford County Schools' student allegedly posted a threat against the high school on social media Thursday.

The student was charged with two felony counts of making a false report. He is being held in Rutherford County Juvenile Detention.

Harrison says the investigation showed the student acted alone. There was no proof anyone else was involved.

According to the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office, A 17-year-old Rutherford County boy was charged after he allegedly posted threats today against Riverdale High School students.

The student was charged with two felony counts of making false reports after giving a statement about the social media posts, said School Resource Officer Capt. Brad Harrison. He was believed acting alone.

"We want parents to know we are committed to the safety of the children, along with the teachers and staff," Harrison said. "We don't take these threats lightly."

Rutherford County schools, SROs and sheriff's detectives learned about the post that went viral through the school and the county Thursday afternoon. They worked together to identify the student.

"Through posts, we were able to track down the location where the post was made," Harrison said. "We visited the home and located the juvenile."

Detective Will Pinson charged the boy who was taken to the Rutherford County Juvenile Detention Center.

The school and SRO division are aggressively investigating the situation. While these situations tend to turn out to be inappropriate pranks, we take them seriously, and if the person responsible is identified, they will be disciplined thoroughly."

The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office learned about a threat regarding Riverdale High School today, said Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh.

"Anytime we have a potential threat to a school, we take these threats seriously," the sheriff said. "In situations such as this, the safety of our children and educators is paramount."

School Resource Officers and the Sheriff's Criminal Investigations Division detectives are actively investigating the threat.

"We will have enhanced patrol and additional personnel for staffing in and around the school," Fitzhugh said.
