Art By City School Students On Display In City Hall Rotunda

The City School Art Competition is currently on display in the Murfreesboro City Hall rotunda. There is no charge to see this exhibit and it will be open until November 11th. The annual competition showcases art by students in the Murfreesboro City School system. In addition, this year’s event includes the works of local art educators. An awards ceremony will be held in the rotunda on Tuesday afternoon, October 21st, from 4:30 to 5:30. The winner’s were selected by three jurors from the MTSU Department of Art. First Grader Ronnie Rankins of Hobgood Elementary receives the Best in Show Award (left photo). Hobgood Elementary School gets a monetary prize for receiving the most awards. George Popovich of Cason Lane Academy gets the first place award in the teacher category with honorable mentions going to Mary Cunningham of the Discovery School at Reeves Rogers and Paulette Stover of Bradley Elementary School. Money for all awards was donated by local citizens. Eric Snyder chairs the City Hall Art Committee that is made up of Patricia Tenpenny, Cheryl Harris, Marie Miller, Lee Ann Walker, Linda Anderson and Terry Ann Womack.
