Another great art exhibit will soon be at the MTSU Todd Art Gallery starting on October 15. Printed Matter and more will be showcased.

What is Printed Matter? It is an exhibit of artwork that demonstrates the variety of media using print transfer techniques for text, image or both, in unique and exciting ways. In this case the work included is that of Nashville artists Bryce McCloud, Patrick DeGuira, Jason Burnett, and Brad Vetter. Also, included is the work of Jessica Seamans of the upper Midwest’s design studio Landland.

With work in letterpress, linocut, woodcut, and silkscreen Bryce McCloud is a Nashville-based artist with Isle of Printing. Patrick DeGuira is also a Nashville resident whose nonlinear work in a variety of mediums uses pre-digital sign-making techniques that allow him to achieve a greater level of handmade precision. Jason Burnett is a 2009 graduate of Western Kentucky University with multiple degrees in ceramics, printmaking, and graphic design. Brad Vetter resides in Nashville with background in MTSU’s 2010 Printing Press Project by the Stones River Press. Vetter also works as a designer, printer, and instructor with the prestigious Hatch Show Print, a division of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Jessica Seamans is the co-owner of Landland Design located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She specializes in hand-built illustration and graphic design in the Landland’s fully-functional screen-printing laboratory.

Artist Statement

The relationship to one’s self endlessly intrigues me because of the struggle of wanting and not wanting to recognize aspects of the self. This piece depicts the struggle and the desire to hold on to or untie what binds the self. Ultimately, the viewer must decide whether the figures are attempting to break free from each other or remain as one.
