A 41-year old homeless man has been arrested by Murfreesboro Police after an alleged assault at the Motel 6 on Chaffin Place. The manager told Officer Darryl Sanders that Brandon Wanless arrived at the business around 3:45 to rent a room. He was denied since his driver license was expired and that's against the motel's policy. The victim reports Wanless became upset and directed profanity towards him, but he left.

Then, around 7:15, the victim reports Wanless came back to the business, allegedly shouting and carrying a small red rod of some type. The person he was riding with stopped him and they drove away. The clerk on duty at the time then called police.

Officer Sanders reports Wanless was found at the nearby Jack in the Box and when questioned, admitted to the incident. He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on seven-thousand dollars bond. Wanless is set to appear in court on August 5th.
