There was an attempted robbery at the Dollar General Store on Mercury Boulevard. It happened around 9:30 Sunday morning. The store clerk told Murfreesboro Police Officer Nicholas Sapp a white male in a grey hoodie, between five-eight and five-10, clean shaven with blue eyes and between 28-and-35-years old entered the store looking for cold medication. She helped him find it and when checking out, he asked for three packs of cigarettes. The victim told Officer Sapp when she turned around to get the cigarettes, the suspect pulled out a three to four inch knife out of the hoodie pocket and demanded all of the money. When she told him "that's not going to happen," he ran out of the store toward East Main Street. The Criminal Investigations Division is currently handling the case. We have photos of the suspect on our website, WGNSRadio.com, keyword Dollar General.
