An attempted murder case is under investigation in Murfreesboro. Evidently, the case was opened on Saturday evening around 5 when police responded to a shooting at the Student Quarters apartment complex on South Rutherford Boulevard.

When police pulled into the parking lot of the complex, they found several spent shell casings, broken glass near a patio door and a woman who told them that her roommate had been shot.

Officers say the 25-year-old victim made her way to the apartment patio and was in distress. Paramedics arrived and treated the gunshot victim before taking her to the hospital.

The roommate of the victim explained that the shooting suspect was inside her apartment prior to the incident. The roommate heard the victim yell for her to "get out," which was when the suspect allegedly opened fire while standing outside the apartment patio door.

During the investigation, it was learned that a second victim was transported to the hospital by friends prior to police arriving. That second victim was shot in what may have been a robbery by the same suspect. The secondary victim is only 19 years old.

The case remains under investigation and the name of the suspect has not been released by police.
