The first-degree murder trial for Jewell Moses Bess is set to begin in the upcoming days. District Attorney Jennings Jones told News Radio WGNS...
At issue is whether or not Bess, age 65, killed his ex-wife Deborah Sherfield Bess nearly 30 years ago or if she committed suicide.
The trial was postponed from February when defense attorney Chuck Ward filed a notice seeking permission for a medical expert to testify that excessive drinking could have caused her to kill herself. Her blood-alcohol content was .13 percent, but no autopsy was performed, according to Ward.
