Blackman Defeats Oakland for State Title in Double OT

It was a battle no one from Murfreesboro in the Murphy Center will soon forget. The Blackman girls defeated Oakland 58-54 in double overtime to claim their second state title in two years...

Bryan Barrett and Jon Dinkins had the play-by-play on NewsRadio WGNS. Angel Allen sank two free throws in the final seconds of the second overtime to seal the win for the Lady Blaze. Crystal Dangerfield led Blackman with 18 points. Meme Jackson added 15. Oakland was led by Shelby Gibson's 21 points. Abby Wright had 13.

Dangerfield and Jackson were joined by Alex Johnson and K.K. Williams on the All-State Tournament Team. Dangerfield was named the MVP. Gibson and Wright made the team for Oakland along with Ansley Eubank along with Paris Lawson. Dangerfield also was named 2015 Miss Basketball for Class AAA and talks about the work they put in to win back-to-back state titles...
