The Middle Tennessee State University Blue Raiders face off against Western Kentucky's Hilltoppers for the seventh annual BLEED BLUE, BEAT WKU blood drive. The Murfreesboro Red Cross will be in the gym at the university's Rec Center Monday through Wednesday, November 13th through the 15th. The Rec Center is at 1848 Blue Raider Drive.

Last year Western Kentucky took home the traveling trophy and major bragging rights by winning the blood battle. This year, it is anyone's game. During the three-day battle, the archrivals will each host a blood drive to see which university's supporters can bring in the most blood donations. The university with the most presenting donors will win and be presented with the blood battle trophy during the first quarter of the WKU vs. MTSU football game in Bowling Green on Friday night, November 17th. Kickoff is at 7:00PM

All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver's license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

All presenting donors will receive a commemorative WKU vs. MTSU Blood Battle T-shirt, while supplies last.

"The annual WKU vs. MTSU Blood Battle is something we look forward to every year because it's a great way for fans to get in the game of helping to save lives by rolling up a sleeve in honor of their favorite school before the teams meet on the gridiron," said Mario Sedlock, director of donor recruitment for the Red Cross Tennessee Valley Blood Services Region. "The battle is something fans on both sides can have fun with while providing hospital patients with much-needed blood this fall"
