Thursday (5/17/2018) night's Murfreesboro City Council ended with Interim City Manager Jim Crumley stating that current City Attorney Craig Tindall was the best candidate for the city manager position.

After some discussion, the council voted to allow Crumley to negotiate a contract with the man who has served our city and attended council meetings since he was sworn in as the city attorney on March 24, 2016.

Crumley has consistently indicated that Murfreesboro needs a person with high ethics, morals and principles to fill this important position of leadership.

After the council meeting, Tindall noted that if everything works out that he would consider streamlining the structure of city departments, along with focusing on economic development and budget issues.

Crumley hopes to have an agreement ready for presentation to the governing body at their May 24, 2018 meeting.

When Murfreesboro hired Tindall as city attorney, Mayor Shane McFarland commented, "Craig Tindall has served as a city attorney for Glendale, Arizona, a city with a growing population and similar challenges to those we face in Murfreesboro. We are impressed with his legal expertise and high ethical standards as a municipal attorney, including extensive work on critical issues such as transportation and intergovernmental affairs."

It's interesting to note that Craig Tindall was not on the list of candidates furnished by the job recruiting firm hired by the city. However, in working closely with city leaders over the past two and a half-years, those desired qualities in Tindall seem to have impressed quite a few locally.

Tindall has strong Tennessee connections. He spent many of his childhood years living in Hendersonville and Memphis. He graduated from the Southern Methodist Dedman School of Law in Dallas in 1991. Tindall is married and his two sons in college.
