‘Boro Parks & Rec Recognized for Excellence in Kingsport

Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department swept several award categories during a recent convention of the Tennessee Recreation and Parks Association (TRPA) in Kingsport. Log-on to WGNSRadio.com, keyword parks, for a picture and description of all of the awards won.

From left the winners and awards they won include:

Jeni Brinkman, Program Coordinator for Marketing and Special Events; best website marketing campaign in the state; the Four Star Award for Marketing; the Special Events, Arts and Marketing Award and an appreciation award for her time, dedication and leadership to the Ethnic Minority Interest Section.

Rachel Singer, Assistant Program Coordinator for Greenways and Wetlands; the Resource Management Award for Excellence for its Wandering Waters Camp, recognized as the best Environmental Program in the state.

Marlane Sewell, Program Coordinator; the Maynard Glenn Award given for planning, conducting and being responsible for the most outstanding recreation program of the year.

Becki Johnson, Assistant Program Coordinator; the Donald H. Stanton Award for the fourth year that Patterson Park Community Center has had the best overall community center program in the state.

Terry Womack, Cultural Arts Coordinator; three Special Events, Arts and Marketing awards for The Boro’ Blues Fest, Arts in the Park and the Sunshine Players’ production of “Snow White” for best theatre program.

Lanny Goodwin, Director of Parks and Recreation, was presented The President’s Cup in the 100,000 and over population category for reflecting the most professional standards set by TRPA for contributions made to the State and the National Association for Recreation and Parks (NRPA).

Not pictured is Dave Davis, Co-Founder of Life Enrichment and Recreation Network (L.E.A.R.N.); who got the Volunteer Service Award for his overwhelming commitment to special needs citizens in Murfreesboro.
