Firefighters battled the cold weather and flames at a Bradyville Pike home for many hours. Rutherford County Fire and Rescue along with volunteer firefighters from Kittrell and Lascassas spent five-hours Tuesday night fighting the fire at 5239 Bradyville Pike. The home was a total loss.
County Fire Chief Larry Farley tells NewsRadio WGNS when the first units arrived around 8:40pm, they encountered heavy fire conditions when they entered. With a failing roof, the operation became a defensive attack. Farley also mentions they implemented shuttle operations to bring water to the scene as the closest hydrant was about a mile away.
The American Red Cross provided supplies for the firefighters working in the extreme cold and are assisting the displaced family. T-DOT was called to the scene to spread salt on the roadway because of freezing water.
