This is a busy weekend for MAIN STREET MURFREESBORO. That's the organization that continues to do such a phenomenal job of preserving our local historical architecture. This weekend they bring crowds to the historic square with the season's opening FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE and SATURDAY MARKETPLACE.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE

Yes, FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE kicks off at 6:30PM (6/2/2017) on the east side of the Historic Rutherford County Courthouse with the great music of THE PILOTS.

The Pilots are a group of experienced musicians who perform a broad range of tunes from the 50s through 90s that you know and love, and will keep you dancing!

Executive Director Kathleen Herzog said, "Main Street enjoys bringing people to our historic square, so they can enjoy the past. That enhances everyone's future."

She encourages everyone to bring their lawn chair and get ready to enjoy another one of those ingredients that makes you say "I'm so happy we live here".

And when the spirit moves you, feel free to walk to the cleared area in front of the stage and dance the night away.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE continues on the first Friday of each month through September. After this week's show, the next performance is July 7th with ENTICE, August 4th features THE SKYLINE DRIVE BAND, and the final event is September 1st with EVERYDAY PEOPLE on the big stage.

SATURDAY MARKETPLACE

Also this weekend, Main Street opens the season with the SATURDAY MARKETPLACE. This extremely popular event is every Saturday morning from 8:00 until noon, all around the historic Rutherford County Courthouse.

Herzog quipped, "Come out and shop for all kinds of farm fresh goodies, and don't forget to hug your favorite farmer!"

Main Street's SATURDAY MARKETPLACE features produce, fruits, flowers, baked goods, herbs and other natural items including local honey, cheeses, meats and much more.

As in the past, SATURDAY MARKETPLACE is held around the courthouse every Saturday morning, June through October.

It has become a neighborhood meeting place where locals come to be with friends, stroll around the square, and to enjoy some of the new restaurants that have opened in the historic district.

A TASTE OF RUTHERFORD

And while Main Street Murfreesboro kicks off an exciting season, a fun part of that includes "A Taste of Rutherford". Some call it "THE Summer Party". It features the best cuisine from the areas most respected culinary kitchens.

This year "A Taste of Rutherford" will be from 7:00 to 10:00PM on Saturday night, July 29th, at Daffodil Hill, 1710 East Main Street. That's an elegant Greek Revival style home with Italianate influences. It is a two-story brick home that was constructed in 1861.

The Arnold-Harrell home is closely associated with the Civil War. During the Federal occupation of Murfreesboro, Mary Dean, Arnold's daughter, was shot by the Northern troops as she looked out a window. The home was constantly threatened by the aggressors, and when Arnold returned after the war--he found his home in disarray.

After the Civil War, Arnold was the contractor who constructed most of Murfreesboro's brick structures.

To enjoy this event even more, consider being a "Taste of Rutherford" corporate sponsor. You'll be a part of the special pre-party activities (6-7PM). There are several different corporate sponsorship levels:

$150 for patron sponsor - 2 tickets

$300 for bronze sponsor - 4 tickets

$500 for silver sponsor - 6 tickets

$1000 for gold sponsor - 12 tickets
