A car with no rear passenger wheel and a flat tire on the front passenger side was stopped by police at a liquor store on South Church Street Thursday morning. MPD Officer R. Haley wrote in a report, “The vehicle in question was missing its tire and wheel on the passenger side rear, and the front passenger side wheel had no tire on it.” Police were made aware of the car after a call from a local gas station came in highlighting the situation.

When police spoke to the 26-year old driver of the 4-door Pontiac, they stated that he told police right off the bat that he had a flat tire. He failed to mention the missing wheel, according to the report. Jerry Hodge told Murfreesboro officers that he was on his way from Nashville to Bell Buckle. In the report that WGNS obtained Friday afternoon, Hodge did not explain if he had intended to drive all the way to Bell Buckle with the tire and wheel problems that he faced.

The report showed that Hodge had a prior DUI conviction from Indiana almost exactly one year ago. During the stop on Thursday, he was charged with his second DUI and will appear in court in April.
