Talk about a bad day for a car theft victim in Murfreesboro... the victim not only had his car stolen and wrecked, but was also charged criminally in the case. The charges filed against the car theft victim started with David Wayne Seiber allegedly stealing and wrecking a car that reportedly belonged to Daniel Godsey.

35 Year old Seiber is accused of stealing a car that was filling up with gas when the car owner identified as Mr. Godsey, headed inside the Tiger Mart gas station on Lascassas Pike.

After dispatch got the call, police located the wrecked 2010 Chevrolet Camaro on Northfield Boulevard. Prior to wrecking on Northfield, Seiber allegedly struck a truck in the parking lot of the gas station.

When police found the wrecked car on Northfield, they discovered that Seiber had fled the scene on foot. He was located minutes later and said to be unsteady on his feet with a strong odor of intoxicant.

Back at the initial crime scene where the car was stolen, a witness told police that the man in the Camaro exited the gas station as his car was driving away and pulled a gun out, pointing it at the car. Godsey, the car theft victim, allegedly asked a bystander to hold marijuana for him that was in his possession. The bystander refused and witnessed the car theft victim throw the weed down along with the handgun prior to police arriving.

Officers later located the gun and marijuana near a dumpster. The car theft victim, who is a convicted felon, was charged with possessing a gun while being a convicted felon and possession of a schedule six drug.

As for Seiber, he was charged with DUI number 5, theft of property over $10,000, leaving the scene of an injury accident, being a habitual offender and driving on a revoked license for the third time.

Seiber will face the charges in court on January 19, 2017. For the time being, he remains jailed in Rutherford County under a $32,000 bond.
