Kevin Dunn, a former Murfreesboro Police SWAT unit Sergeant, will remain behind bars for the next 5 years or longer before he is eligible for parole. Dunn, who was arrested in 2015 and sat behind bars up until his recent November 2016 court date, was convicted on child pornography charges in a case that involved a child.

Dunn was sentenced to 18 years in prison on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 in a Rutherford County Courtroom. Prior to being arrested, Dunn was employed by the Murfreesboro Police Department for 17 years. However, he was fired in 2015 after his superiors learned of the charges he was facing as the result of a TBI investigation.

The investigation into Dunn started with another subject in Clarksville, Tennessee, who was allegedly searching to find a parent that would allow him to have sex with their child. The man in Clarksville named James Alexander West, apparently had an online ad titled "Seeking parents that like to share." TBI contacted the man in an undercover operation which eventually led them to former Murfreesboro Police Sargent Dunn.

In searching the email accounts of West in Clarksville, authorities learned that Dunn in Murfreesboro had talked to West about a desire to victimize a child. Dunn also sent West sexually explicit photos of a child. The photos were said to have been taken by Dunn without the child knowing about them.

Dunn was eventually charged with possession of child pornography in the case and this past month, pleaded guilty to the charges which landed him an 18 year prison sentence.

As for 25 year old West, who at the time was a US Army Soldier stationed at Fort Campbell, he was charged with sexual exploitation of a child.
