Complaints of a church volunteer allegedly exposing himself to neighbors resulted in his arrest on an indecent exposure charge, Rutherford County Sheriff’s detectives said.

Suspect James “Jim” Steverson of 113 Leonard Drive in Christiana was charged after Detectives Lisa McCallum and Steve Craig staked out his home around 10:00 o'clock Wednesday morning, October 17th.

Detective Craig noted, “In a matter of minutes, we observed Mr. Steverson come out to the (opened) garage, remove his clothing and begin to touch himself in a sexual manner. I made contact with Mr. Steverson while he was in the act.”

During the investigation, Detective McCallum learned Steverson was a volunteer at Christian Life Church in Murfreesboro. He sells life insurance at home.

The 65-year old suspect was taken into custody. He was booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center where he was released after posting a $3,000 bond. A hearing is set November 7th in General Sessions Court.
