City Mgr. Lyons Separation: $95,810.39 + Benefits

The Murfreesboro City Council met briefly at 2:00 o'clock Monday (12/18/2017) afternoon in the City Hall's second floor conference room. They agreed to a Separation Agreement with Rob Lyons that includes a 6-month current salary severance and medical insurance payout totaling $95,810.39.

Under details of the Separation and Release of Claims Agreement, Lyons will receive regular pay for time worked that includes one full bi-weekly paycheck ($6,685.12) and a partial bi-weekly paycheck ($3,342.56) for December, 2017. Lyons will receive 6-months severance of 13 bi-weekly paychecks at his current salary through July 6, 2018 totaling $86,906.56, approximately 100 unused accrued vacation days pay totaling $67,276.35 and a city paid medical and dental payment of $8,903.83.

Under the Separation Agreement, Lyons releases any claims he may have with the city and agrees to assist with a seamless transition while it searches for a new city manager. The arrangement was created by the city's legal department staff.

This past Friday (12/15/2017) morning, Lyons had an early meeting with Mayor McFarland and the council. Then at 8:30AM he met with his staff told them that he was leaving immediately.

Council members present at the 2:00 o'clock special meeting on Monday (12/18/2017) were Mayor Shane McFarland, Vice Mayor Madelyn Scales Harris, Council members Rick LaLance, Bill Shacklett, Eddie Smotherman, and Kirt Wade. They all voted unanimously to approve the pay, severance and other actions submitted by the city's legal department.
