Weather permitting (no rain or snow), there will be a variety of vehicles from 1950's - 1960's on display that are owned by collectors from across Tennessee. Owners of these vehicles will be on site to discuss their hobby with you. Honk Rattle and Roll is a member of Antique Automotive Club of America that hosts at least 12 activities per year for Antique and Classic Cars enthusiasts. For more information on the HRR Touring Club contact Tom Collins cet@comcast.net or visit their web site at www.hrr.aaca.com. There is no charge to view the cars and this is open to the public.

While here, be sure to visit the wedding dresses and continue your walk through the 1950's and 1960's through fashion. The gowns from these decades range from T-length lace to long flowing satin. Exhibit hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with an admission of $10 per person.

Wedding Dresses Through the Decades

Stories of our community will come to life through wedding gowns on display at Oaklands Mansion, where every dress tells a love story. Step back into time and experience the common threads that weave together the lives of women as we explore women's history, fashion history, cultural history and the history of our community. Over fifty gowns will be placed on loan and exhibited, most for the first time. The "Wedding Dresses Through the Decades" exhibit in Maney Hall at Oaklands Mansion will take place from January 21 through March 5, 2017.

"These treasured garments reveal stories and secrets of the past and have been stored for decades under beds and in the back of closets," said Mary Beth Nevills, Education Director of Oaklands, "We look forward to sharing with you this year's exhibit, full of new dresses from our community's past."

The exhibit will be open daily, Monday-Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Sundays 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Admission to the exhibit is $10.00 per person and is open to the public. Museum tours are available at regular rates during regular museum hours and combination tickets for the exhibition and house tours are available at a reduced rate. This exhibit is sponsored in part by the Human Sciences Department of Middle Tennessee State University.
