COFFEE COUNTY: Murder for Hire Update

October 15, 2009

The Tullahoma woman accused of hiring an individual to kill a Tullahoma Police Investigator and his girlfriend appeared in Coffee County General Sessions Court Wednesday. Judge Vanessa Jackson sentenced Dana Burl, 43, to 11 moths and 29 days in jail for probation violation. She was also bound over to the Coffee County Grand Jury on two counts of solicitation of murder.

Burl was arrested September 11th after police say she attempted to hire an individual to kill Tullahoma Police Investigator Harry Conway and Veronica Johnson.

At the hearing, Tullahoma Police Investigator Jason Kennedy stated that Burl allegedly negotiated a price of $500 for the proposed murders, in payments of $200 before and $300 after the killings were to be completed. Burl was also said to have paid an additional $30 for gas. A hearing for Burl was delayed last month after both general sessions court judges recused themselves from hearing the case. - WMSR News
