Cold Weather; Wintery Mix by Week's End

A dramatic swing in temperatures - compared to what we've been experiencing - is expected by the weekend with the possibility of wintery weather.

National Weather Service forecasters say temperatures will fall to several degrees below seasonal normal values. Along with that, weak upper level disturbances moving across the mid state region will result in the potential of a couple wintry mix precipitation events.

Forecasters believe one of these will be on Friday morning and another one will be during the Friday night into Saturday time frame. Light accumulating snowfall amounts may be possible across Middle Tennessee Friday night into Saturday, with the greatest potential for accumulation across the Cumberland Plateau Region.

Expect the cooler weather to stay with us for awhile as well. There are no 50's or 60's in the extended forecast.
