Scott Foster with the Journey Home told WGNS that the Coldest Nights Emergency Shelter Season is in full swing, with temperatures forecasted to dip into the 20's over the next several nights.

Coldest Nights is a drop-in emergency shelter program for homeless men in the community that is open only when low temperatures are forecast to be below 30 degrees. It is a health and safety resource for homeless men that cannot otherwise get into the existing shelters in our community (Salvation Army or Room in the Inn) for any reason.

As for the homeless women and children in Rutherford County, they can find emergency shelter through the Way of Hope. Inquiries can be directed to Brad Blomgren at 615-653-8027 regarding the Way of Hope.

Doors at First Baptist Church, home of the Coldest Nights Emergency Shelter will open at 7:00 p.m. and close at 9:30 p.m. The Coldest Nights program will end each morning at 7:00 a.m.

First Baptist Church on 200 East Main Street is the host site, participants should use the Vine Street entrance. Once the doors close at 9:30 no participant is allowed to enter unless brought to the shelter by law enforcement or discharged to the shelter by the hospital or other arrangements are made by contacting me (615-867-4040) or Ed Grimes (615-605-1705).
