Community Leader Henry Huddleston III Passes Away

Murfreesboro community leader William Henry Huddleston III passes away at the age of 86. He operated numerous businesses, including Smith and Huddleston, Huddleston Engineering and Huddleston-Corlew. He concluded his career with Huddleston-Steele Engineering.

Huddleston also took part in many community activities, including being a Murfreesboro Federal Savings and Loan board member, Chairman of Cavalry Banking, Rutherford Hospital, Christy-Houston Foundation, and the Rutherford County Public Building Authority, among others.

Huddleston also was president of the Murfreesboro Exchange Club, the Stones River Country Club and Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce. He was awarded the chamber's Business Legend of the Year in 1996. He was the city engineer for the city of Murfreesboro and a member of First United Methodist Church.

William Henry Huddleston III is survived by his sons William Huddleston IV and Benjamin Huddleston, daughter Ellen Wilson and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation is Tuesday from 4-7pm at First United Methodist Church and again from 10am until the time of services Wednesday at 11am at the church. Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
