Update: 610 N. Maple Murder Victim Named

Murfreesboro Police have identified the man shot at 610 North Maple Street as 56-year old Dana Jankovosky. Public Information Officer Kyle Evans tells WGNS News Jankovosky was shot at his home just after midnight Wednesday morning…
Evans says they believe the shooting was a domestic situation and self defense has not been ruled out. The case is evidently domestic violence related and occurred between a father in law and a son in law.

The Murfreesboro Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that occurred at 12:06 a.m. July 29, 2009 at 610 N. Maple Street #2. Officers responded to the address in reference to a white male shooting victim. When officers arrived, they discovered a white male 56 years old had been shot. He was transported to MTMC and flown by Life Flight to Vanderbilt Hospital where he died while in surgery.
The investigation is currently active and is classified as domestic related. The person of interest in this investigation has spoken with investigators and has been released. Investigators have not ruled out self-defense or an accidental shooting at this time but it is classified as a domestic related homicide. The body of the deceased will be sent to the Medical Examiner for an autopsy. At this time, investigators are speaking with witnesses and other parties who may have information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
