Rutherford County Schools will soon have a new County Athletic Director. A total of 32 candidates have applied for the part-time position that will handle athletic director duties, as well as oversee the charter school process and work with the safe schools manager.

According to the job posting, the essential function of this position is to direct, lead and oversee Rutherford County Interscholastic athletic programs for TSSAA and system compliance.

Schools spokesman James Evans says sometime over the next few weeks, an interview committee will be put together and that committee will make a hiring recommedation to Director of Schools Don Odom.
