The Supreme Court of Tennessee has denied an appeal filed by Letonio Swader. The man was convicted in a Rutherford County Courtroom of first degree felony murder and sentenced to life in prison. The denial was officially filed on Monday (2/24/14).

Swader killed Kristen Holzapfel in 2003 outside of her boyfriends Gateway Apartment. Swader was a juvenile when he killed Holzapfel, but the case was later transferred to adult court. You may recall Holzapfel was dating Murfreesboro Police Detective Wayne Lawson at the time of her death. Evidently, she had just spent the day with Lawson and his children and as Lawson was bathing one of his children Holzapfel went out to the car to retrieve a vacuum cleaner that was in the vehicle. She was shot in the back when she went outside.
