With the Mid-State in the midst of the coldest weather in almost 20 years, the Tennessee Department of Transportation is warning motorists to stay home. TDOT officials say single digit temperatures will create dangerous conditions on the road. With temperatures that cold, they say there's not much they can do to when it comes to treating the roads. Spokesperson DeAnna Lambert says salt and brine, the melting agents used in snow and ice, aren't effective when temperatures are this cold and anything on the roads will be there for awhile. Lambert says the best thing you can do is to stay home and stay off the roads.
