An argument between a man and a woman over the man reportedly looking at other women led to two arrests, after the man allegedly fired a shotgun.

The incident unfolded outside of Chariot Pointe Apartments and also inside one of the R building apartment units this past Friday. Residents called Murfreesboro Police after they spotted 38 year old William F. Beard III armed with what looked to be a rifle or shotgun at 3:30 Saturday morning. When patrol officers arrived, they met with the subjects inside of apartment R-3. Police noted that both Beard and 46 year old Kimberly Johnson were uncooperative.

One witness told police that they saw Johnson placing Beards clothing outside of the apartment in plastic bags. They then saw Beard walk outside and point a gun at Johnson. That is when one of the witnesses ran inside and called 9-1-1. While on the phone with dispatch, the witness allegedly heard a gunshot.

When police spoke to Johnson and Beard, it was determined that the two got into a verbal argument over Beard looking at other women. During the argument, Johnson admitted to slapping Beard while holding two kitchen knives. She said that she then put his clothing in plastic bags and placed the clothes outside the apartment. Beard however, told police that Johnson never assaulted him and never had a weapon. Beard also denied having or firing a gun, despite a witness hearing a gunshot and police finding a spent 12 gauge shell casing.

A search warrant was obtained for the apartment and police found a box of shotgun shells that matched the spent 12 gauge shell casing found outside the apartment. Police also found a 12 gauge shotgun with another matching shell in the chamber. Also recovered were two small kitchen knives that Johnson advised she used when reportedly assaulting Beard. The items were collected as evidence.

Both Beard and Johnson were arrested and charged with aggravated domestic assault. The two will appear in court on October 20, 2016.
