Dr. Carol M. Swain speaks at GOP Luncheon

Dr. Carol M. Swain will be the guest speaker at the quarterly Rutherford County GOP Luncheon at noon on Tuesday, August 15 with the message of "How to be the People who Reclaim a Nation".

Professor Swain has recently served as Professor of Political Science and Professor of Law at Vanderbilt University and is the founder of the Carol Swain Foundation and Carol Swain Enterprises.

A widely recognized expert on campaign and elections, racial politics, immigration reform, and religious liberty. Professor Swain has served on the Tennessee Advisory Committee to the U.S. Civil Rights Commission and the National Endowment for the Humanities Council (2008-2014). Her opinion pieces have been published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Times and USA Today. She was a regular contributor to CNN's Lou Dobbs Tonight and her media appearances include BBC World News, NPR, CNN's Michael Smerconish, CNN's Anderson Cooper 360, Fox News Live, Fox New's Hannity, Fox News's Judge Jeanine, PBS's News Hour, The Washington Journal and ABC's Headline News, among other media.

Before joining Vanderbilt in 1999, Professor Swain was a tenured associate professor of politics and public policy at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.

"Given recent political events and presidential executive orders, we look forward to hearing what Dr. Swain has to say on this and other hot button issues," Chairman Barrett added.

"These luncheons seek to inform and educate people on specific topics and issues, and the visit by Dr. Swain reaffirms this. We are privileged to have such a distinguished lady come and speak to our community," she added.

The luncheon takes place at the DoubleTree Hotel on 1850 Old Fort Parkway in Murfreesboro, August 15, 2017. Doors open at 11:30 AM and the event starts at Noon and lasts for one hour.
