This year, Rutherford County is testing a pilot program for early voting. Not only does it make voting easier for residents, but it also saves a considerable amount of tax dollars.

For example, instead of having to staff and operate 49 precincts, the new system has a total of 28 voting centers.

Rutherford County Election Administrator Alan Farley explained . . .

Statewide, as of that same time, 562,680 early votes were cast. There were 362,339 GOP votes to 183,727 Democratic votes.

If you missed out on early voting, you'll be able to cast your ballot at any of the 28 Rutherford County Vote Centers on Thursday.

Farley noted . . .

Election Centers open at 7:00 o'clock this coming Thursday morning and remain open until 7:00 that evening. At that time, WGNS begins its seventy-first year of election coverage "live" from the Rutherford County Election Commission office on the Murfreesboro square.
