Educators Meet in Washington

Educators are just back from Washington, DC, after the National Education Association’s annual meeting. Earl Wiman (WHY-man) with the Tennessee Educators Association says one of the major issues to be addressed is teacher retention…

Wiman says Tennessee has strengthen its curriculum and made it more difficult in an effort to better educate students…

Wiman (WHY-man) says they’ll continue to work to advance teacher salaries in Tennessee…

Discussion of No Child Left Behind and funding of overall education were also take up at the meeting, which wrapped up Thursday. Many representatives from the Rutherford Education Association were at the meeting and will soon be on WGNS to talk about their recent negotiations with the county Board of Education.
