You've been meaning to drop by The Gavel Grill & Speakeasy on Maple Street, haven't you? Main Street's annual, premier fundraiser will be the perfect opportunity.

Mark your calendar for Main Street's Evening on Maple, scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. Those attending the nonprofit Main Street organization's fundraiser will enjoy delicious refreshments and drink while taking in the newly renovated restaurant interior at 109 North Maple Street. The evening, traditionally called Evening on Main because it's hosted by a Main Street dweller, is appropriately re-titled this year, thanks to Steve and Callie Leasure's decision to couple the Main Street fundraiser with their restaurant's official grand opening.

Evening on Maple benefits the nonprofit charged with the mission of maintaining, enhancing and promoting Murfreesboro's historic downtown. That's exactly what the Leasures are doing, too. The restaurant blends modern décor with a traditional foundation, including exposed brick walls and refinished hardwood floors. The bar's lounge area sets The Gavel apart, with its comfortable couches and dark-blue velvet pub chairs.

"The willingness of downtown entrepreneurs to embrace downtown's historic charm while adding moderns twists to their décor and offerings is exactly what we need to ensure that our downtown remains vibrant," said Main Street Director Kathleen Herzog. The Gavel's new menu features both classic and new flavors, including steaks, chops, seafood and regional specialties rotated seasonally. The speakeasy-style bar is equipped with only premium liquors, and craft cocktails are served with only fresh ingredients.

Reservations for Evening on Maple are suggested but not required. For more information, call (615) 895-1887 or email michelle@downtownmurfreesboro.com.
