Murfreesboro Police teamed up with a Tennessee Department of Corrections officer during a home visit when it was discovered that a felon had a gun and marijuana in his apartment. Officer Major wrote in a report that several small bags of marijuana were recovered along with two handguns. A .32-caliber revolver was found in the rental unit that had a deliberately shortened barrel. A 38-Special was also recovered. Both guns had their serial numbers removed.  Four bullets were also removed from the property.

As far as the gun barrel that was shortened as noted in the police report, WGNS could not find any laws that would make it illegal to shorten the barrel of a revolver.

Dawson was booked under am $8,750 bond and later released after posting the needed bond amount of 10% which added up to $875.

Dawson will appear in court on January 9, 2014.
