Fire damages Blackman Middle wrestling building

School district officials were alerted late Sunday night to a fire at the wrestling building on the campus of Blackman Middle School.

The wresting building is a separate facility that houses the wrestling program for Blackman Middle School and Blackman High School. The schools themselves were not involved in the fires and not damaged.

How it started:

Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department's Fire Marshal's Office has completed a review of the fire that occurred in the wrestling building at Blackman Middle School on Blaze Drive Sunday night. "The cause of the fire appears to be accidental and originated in the area of an exhaust fan mounted on the West wall of the building," according to Fire Marshal Carl Peas.

Peas added that the detached building is a total loss.
